BIKEPACKING BAGS
I’ve been designing and prototyping bike packing bags for a number of years for my own trips as well as others. Bikepacking is a great test bed for softgoods/hardgoods interfaces design as well as overall abrasion resistance and durability. Bikepacking is hard on bags and I love designing for really tough environments. I get to see how bar tacks fail and change sewing patterns to get more even thread loading.
Some photos of the inside of the bags before inverting. One of the things I most enjoy about softgoods is the puzzle of assembly order and order of operations. On a simple bag like this, the order is very straight forward, but on backpacks with many pockets and panels it can get a bit challenging and can require some creative solutions.
